I got started building boats at 16; making my first canoe in the loft of our barn with my dad. I went to school for traditional wooden boatbuliding, and first started working as a craftsman building boats. When I am trying to simplify an explanation of what I do, I often times say I am a boatbuilder. At this point, boat building is just a piece in the puzzle of what I make. But wooden boat building techniques and aesthetic still influence how I approach everything that I make.
